Takenos and LATAM Airlines: a partnership to simplify per diem payments for more than 5,000 people in five countries

Takenos and LATAM Airlines are working together to simplify operational payments for part of the airline's staff in five Latin American countries: Paraguay, Chile, Colombia, Peru and Ecuador. LATAM Airlines uses Takenos' cross-border payments platform to distribute per diems to crew members and technical staff.

A unified process for five countries

The partnership allows per diems to be distributed to crew members and mechanics through a single, unified process, replacing the use of cash and local intermediaries in each market. The solution unifies payment disbursement in multiple currencies, with same-day settlement and automated reconciliation by country.

In total, the agreement reaches more than 5,000 people, including crew members and maintenance staff. The implementation is already underway and will continue to expand over the coming months.

What the partners are saying

"Working alongside LATAM Airlines and making their operations more efficient is an important step for us in our mission to build the financial connections the region needs. For the fintech industry, it is a strong signal that large companies trust our solutions," said Lucas Posada, CEO of Takenos.

"Takenos has played a key role in the evolution of the per diem payment process for our crews, bringing agility and simplicity to the operation and contributing to LATAM Airlines' digital transformation," said Monica Piccinin, Crew Support Manager at LATAM Airlines.

"Air crews cross borders every day. Their money should move just as easily. Takenos is simplifying the distribution of per diems for LATAM Airlines across five countries, and Rain's stablecoin infrastructure allows crew members and maintenance staff to receive, hold and use those funds. It is a great example of how stablecoins are being integrated into all kinds of traditional payment flows to increase efficiency and reduce complexity for companies, while also making life easier for the people who work in them," said Farooq Malik, CEO and co-founder of Rain.

The infrastructure behind the solution

Takenos provides cross-border financial infrastructure for companies and individuals with international operations, and already has a presence in different business industries such as tourism, remote work, foreign trade and the digital economy. The same infrastructure that LATAM Airlines staff use to manage their per diems is the one travelers and workers use every day to make payments. As part of the solution, LATAM Airlines staff also have an international card issued by Rain for their expenses.
